TinyUmbrella fails to launch – SOLUTION
I’ve been looking everywhere for a solution why TinyUmbrella was unable to start. The application runs through a couple of flash screens including “unable to validate libraries” & “Reticulating splines” and then just closes. Most common explanations was Java issue – people advised to update or re-install Java, to disable firewall or to download previous version of TinyUmbrella but that’s not it.
The problem is that TinyUmbrella saves a path to SHSH files and when the path changes it fails to start.
In e.g. it can happen if your drive letters change.
THE SOLUTION (is simple):
1. Open the Registry editor – click START and type “regedit” and press enter. (In Windows XP press START, click on “Run”, type “regedit” and press enter)
2. Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\com\semaphore
3. Double click on “/S/A/V/E_/D/I/R/E/C/T/O/R/Y” and enter the path to your SHSH files or if you don’t know it – delete the entry.
4. That’s it, the TinyUmbrella will now launch!!!:)
